Liverpool Dock – For Mersey Docks and Harbour Company

PES Ltd (Pearsons Engineering Services Limited) undertakes a complete track inspection, maintenance and renewal service for Mersey Docks and Harbour Company at Liverpool Docks. This includes a complete management of budget priorities, schemes, proposals and faults including on-call.

The track comprises of over 7 miles of mixed railway infrastructure (Bullhead and flatbottom rail, concrete and wooden sleepers). There are 16 sets of switch and crossing units including 3 level crossings and integrated level crossing warning systems and signals.

Traffic using this infrastructure comprises of heavy coal traffic to lighter container traffic. Coal trains are fairly regular running 5 to 8 trains per day, scrap trains for EMR are at least once per day. There are also paper and container trains pulled by a variety of different locomotives.

Different traffic weights with varying rolling stock provide a different array of problems which arise within the infrastructure. Since taking on this contract in March 2008 there have been no derailments or infrastructure faults. This is a true testament to the service that PES Ltd deliver.

Derby RTC – Serco Rail Operations Limited

PES Ltd undertakes a complete track inspection, maintenance and renewal service for Serco Rail Operations Limited at Derby RTC. This includes on-call cover.

The track comprises of over 6 miles of mixed railway infrastructure (Bullhead and flatbottom rail, concrete and wooden sleepers). There are 28 sets of switch and crossing units and 25 roads including 1 level crossing.

Traffic using this infrastructure comprises of heavy locomotives to lighter track renewal and maintenance on track plant. Movements are fairly regular running 20 to 30 shunting movements per day.

This site was first inspected by PES Ltd in February this year. It was found to be in a poor state of repair. Immediate repairs were carried out and further proposals put forward. Since then, authority has been given to carry out all the necessary repairs and renewals proposed. The infrastructure has improved significantly over the last 3 months and will continue to improve via the efforts of PES Ltd.

West Ealing – Plasser UK Ltd

PES Ltd undertakes a complete track inspection, maintenance and renewal service for Plasser UK Limited at West Ealing. This includes on-call cover.

The track comprises of over 2 miles of mixed railway infrastructure (Bullhead and flatbottom rail, concrete and wooden sleepers). There are 7 sets of switch and crossing units and 25 roads including 1 level crossing.
